The 17th International WorkshopOn Electromagnetic Nondestructive Evaluation

Dear Colleagues,

We wish to express our sincere thanks to the ENDE Standing Committee for this opportunity to host the “17th International Workshop in Electromagnetic Nondestructive Evaluation”, to be held in Rio de Janeiro, from 17 to 20th June 2012. This workshop is jointly organized by the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, and ABENDI (Brazilian Society for Nondestructive Testing and Inspection). Throughout its sixteen past editions, the event has provided an international forum for the discussion on the state of the art in the growing field of electromagnetic nondestructive evaluation methods at the frontiers of research and applications in engineering. The Workshop emphasizes both the basic science and early engineering developments in the field, so experts from theoreticians to research engineers in industry are encouraged to participate. We are pleased to invite all those worldwide researchers who are interested in advanced techniques based on electromagnetic principles applied to nondestructive evaluation.

We are much honored to host this prestigious Conference, mainly due to the fact that it is the first time the ENDE Workshop is being held in a Latin American country. Accordingly, we will do our best to increase the participation of Latin American researchers from different Universities, Research Institutions and Industries.

Rio de Janeiro is an exuberant, attractive and cosmopolitan city with very pleasant and sunny weather in June. Known worldwide for its scenic beauty and natural resources, Rio de Janeiro city also offers to visitors an intense cultural life. Museums, cultural centers, historical buildings, musical events make the city the cultural capital of the country and a mandatory experience for those coming to Brazil. We hope that all participants enjoy the Workshop and the beautiful city of Rio de Janeiro.
